Time To Move On

In a little city just outside of Memphis
this boy sits waiting at a bus stop sign
not sure what he wants out of life
just sure that he doesn't want it to pass him by
He looks up the street and can see for miles
he's stuffed all his dreams
in the bottom of the pile
of the clothes that are sitting beside him
life behind him wasn't meant to be
now he's come to see
it's time for him to move on

As he arrives in a new york bus station
he's greeted with a chill of warn out stares
wearing all his dreams on his sleeve
determination tells him not to leave
he looks up at buildings and can see for miles
there's millions of people but not many smiles
on the faces that stare back at him
his future won't dim
now he's come to see
living the life he dreamed
it's time for him
to move on

He changed his looks
he changed his hair
he left his friends
been everywhere
He chased his dreams
but at what cost
He had big hopes
but all is not lost

now ten years later just outside of memphis
he walks his little boy home from school
so sure what he wants out of life
so happy he never let it pass him by
he looks at his past and he's changed his style
he wouldn't trade anything for all the trials and the tests life's laid before him
his wife beside him
now he's come to see
he's living that life he always dreamed
this time for him - it's home
it's home
this time for him it's home
